Our Aim

Our aim at Scallywags is to provide a safe, loving and caring environment for your child to learn and grow in confidence according to their individual needs.

Mission Statement

Scallywags is a registered charity, led by a voluntary management committee ( mostly made up of the parents whose children attend the Pre-school) under the guidance of the Manager & Pre-school Learning Alliance.  We provide the highest calibre of childcare to meet the needs of the families in our community.  Our support and commitment to our staff training and development ensures that all staff are kept up to date with the latest childcare developments.

Scallywags Pre-School aims to establish the vital foundation for future learning through the range of experiences and resources offered.  We try to make our pre-school an extention of your child`s home, offering the time, opportunities, stimulation and resources for your child to eplore, create, imagine and enquire under the watchful eye of our fully experienced trained pre-school team.

Our priority is to ensure your child has a happy and rewarding time whilst in our care.  If you have any concerns, please speak to your child`s key person or the manager

Scallywags Pre-School is run by a Voluntary Management Committee. We have a charity status and are registered with OFSTED. The committee members act as trustees for the charity which every charity must have. At the annual general meeting held each November, a committee is elected by parents, to administer and be responsible for the policies of the group, employment of the staff, fund raising and compliance with any regulations. The committee works closely with the staff for the benefit of the pre-school. Committee members generally need to be dedicated to the pre-school but need no particular specialist skills.

If you are interested in becoming a committee member please contact the chairperson or Manager. Our pre-school is also a member of the Pre-school Learning Alliance. The pre-school manager is responsible for the care and well being of children and staff. She and the other members of staff enable the group to run smoothly by planning and organising the sessions as a team. We are proud of the high ratio of staff to children in our group. This ensures relevant attention is given to the needs and development of each child.
